‘Leveling the Playing Field’ Project is a sports initiative of the Aakriti Newage Foundation. Till now, this project has covered 100+ government schools in South Rajasthan, in the districts of Udaipur, Salumber, Bhilwara, Rajsamand and Chittorgarh. Aakriti is currently partnering with Caratlane’s CSR for the last 1.5 years and have implemented projects activities with an impact on players’ and student’s lives. Till now, 35,000+ students and 10s of players have been sponsored and supported through our grassroots sports initiative.
Under this project, Aakriti primarily focuses on distributing sports equipment, developing sports infrastructure, sponsoring sport talents, uplifting regional sports, making school sports sustainable, organising tournaments on district-level, encouraging girl-child participation and training the school’s sports coaches and students in respective sports.
You may be asking yourself why Aakriti is concentrating on sporting activities within learning institutions. The reasons are well understood; Playgrounds are not just facilities meant for enjoyment but also places where physical exercise takes place hence the development of both the body and the mind. It also helps in teaching children how to be team players as well as instilling discipline in them including maintaining good health practices among other things. Thus it can be said that they offer valuable lessons which are relevant not only within the school but also outside the classroom too – Physical activity is a powerful builder of body strength and intellect while it imparts team spirit and orderliness upon kids, at the same time showing them how to stick to a healthful way of life. This is one reason why students need good playgrounds; this type of education that takes place outside school walls is indispensable for every person’s prosperity throughout their lives – without it, one cannot survive or succeed in today’s economically competitive world.
In rural areas, lack of equal access to sporting facilities and coaching has been a critical issue this project is addressing. Equipment, infrastructure development, sponsoring sports talents and first-aid training for coaches etc. have been provided at government schools in Udaipur, Salumber, Bhilwara, Rajsamand and Chittorgarh districts by Aakriti till now in the past 1.5 years. Beyond just giving out sports gear, this initiative seeks to build comprehensive surroundings where students can fall in love with games and be in a position to achieve their full potential.
In “Leveling the Playing Field,” Aakriti is taking a two-pronged approach to maximise impact and achieve sustainable results:
We’re moving beyond just providing equipment. By partnering with sports firms and companies, we will hire qualified coaches who can deliver targeted training sessions, workshops, and conduct talent identification programs along with preparing them for tournaments. This ensures a structured learning environment and professional guidance to unlock students’ full potential.
Our project isn’t a one-time intervention. We aim to identify exceptional talent through the program. These students will be considered for sponsorship opportunities, creating a pathway for them to compete at higher levels and potentially become future sporting heroes. This fosters a long-term vision of empowering talent and creating a ripple effect that inspires future generations.
Aakriti’s Village-School Sports Model links rural schools with local communities, nurturing talent at the grassroots. This innovative approach builds sustainable sports ecosystems, empowers local coaches, preserves regional sports and improves student and village youth engagement, health and attendance through community-driven support and training.
